Kristina “Mykal” Newsome, 16
Kristina “Mykal” Newsome, 16, of Lucasville, a sophomore at Minford High School, was murdered by an intruder or intruders at her home (along with her mother) on January 4, 2016. She was born October 18, 1999 to Michael Lykins and the late Candace Sue Newsome. She is preceded in death by her mother, Candace Newsome, her only brother, Charles Edward Newsome, her grandfather, Walter Newsome, and her great grandparents, Edward & Elsie Pierce, Dewey and Ada Newsome, Frank and Beulah Johnson & Tootsie Lykins. She was recently the sophomore attendant for the 2015 Minford football homecoming game. She is survived by her grandparents, Roy and Elsie (Newsome) Johnson; her father, Michael Lykins; grandmother, Julie Story of Florida, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and so very many loving and caring friends and family. She had her whole precious life planned out. She wanted to go into law enforcement by studying the forensic field. She was loved and will be missed by so many members of her family and lots and lots of friends. Due to the body situation and recognition because of the murder there will be no viewing. It will be closed casket. Her mother will be cremated and the urn buried with her in the casket.
Funeral services will be conduced at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Don Noel officiating. Visitation to pay your respects will be at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. Interment will be in Butler Cemetery on Germany Piketon Road beside her Grandfather Walt and brother, Charlie. In lieu of flowers any donations are to be made to the funeral home or to Flowers Monument. Donations will be used for a beautiful headstone. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
