Homer Junior Magnet, 75 of Minford passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at SOMC Hospice. He was born April 5, 1949 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Joseph Homer and Emma Mae (Coburn) Magnet. He was a (self-employed) retired Snyder’s Distributor and Professional Square Dance Caller for 48 years. He was a softball coach for many years taking pride in every single girl he coached. He loved to golf and the only thing he loved more than square dancing, racing, coaching & golf was his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Valerie (Sue) Bennett Magnet; one daughter & son-in-law, Stacy and Cale Clarkson; two granddaughters who were his pride and joy, Teegan and Danica Clarkson; one sister, Edna Irene Greene; many nieces and nephews, and friends he considered family.
The family would like to thank the staff of the SOMC Cancer Center and SOMC Hospice for their amazing care.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Homer Magnet Scholarship fund at Desco Federal Credit Union.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Kermit Wilson and Dennis Bell officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
