Harold William Miller, 80, of Minford, died Friday, October 28, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family who loved him very much. Born November 13, 1930 in New Boston, a son of the late Sam and Malda Wiley Miller, he was a former Insurance Agent for Western-Southern and was retired from Southern Ohio Correctional Facility where he was a corrections officer. He was a member of James Dickey Post No. 23 American Legion in Portsmouth, was a U.S. Army 461st Mortar Battalion veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth. Harold was an avid supporter of Minford Athletics and was a member of Minford Athletic Boosters. He loved the Mighty Minford Falcons, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians and his faithful companion toy. He is survived by his wife, Regina Zenda Miller, whom he married February 19, 1955, his children, Harold Dean “HD” (Kris) Miller of Chillicothe, Tony (Kim) Miller of Minford, Kathy Forbes of Piketon, Theresa (Bryan) Havens of Minford, Eileen (Tony) Sloas of Minford; thirteen grandchildren, Dean Miller, Sara Hurst, Catlin, Justin and Audrey Miller, Daniel Whitaker, James Forbes, III, Crystal Voss, Craig, Gabe and Keenan Havens, Kyle Sloas and Brittney Pickles; seven great grandchildren, Logan and Shelby Hurst, Jillian and Jaylin Forbes, Grant Havens, Kyra and Kyrese Pickles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Bernice Downey-Miller. The family would like to thank SOMC Hospital, SOMC Hospice nurses and bath lady, Dr. David Hanzel and Riverside Hospital Staff for their excellent care.
Funeral services will be conducted at Noon Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Oiler officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Furnace Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
