Wayne Johnson, 48
Larry “Wayne” Johnson, 48, of Rubyville passed away May 11, 2018 following a motorcycle accident. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on April 10, 1970 to Harlena Ruby Johnson and the late Larry Johnson. Wayne was a graduate of Clay High School and Scioto County Joint Vocational School. He was an honor roll student, a top vocational student, and was listed in the 21st annual edition of Who’s Who Among American High School Students. Wayne enjoyed working in his son’s business, JOHNSON PERFORMANCE, where he built performance engines. He was also well known for being a master fabricator. His work was admired by many people. Wayne loved to take his bike and travel throughout Tennessee with his friends. He enjoyed the scenery of the Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Cherokee, and other surrounding areas. He had many fond memories of his longest bike ride which encompassed much of the West. He would often share stories of his trip with family and friends. Wayne enjoyed creative art. He designed a tee shirt for the “Just Fer Fun Buggy Club” of which he was a founding member and would draw pictures for his grandmother which she cherished. He was also a talented writer and had a gift for words. He could utter one line dry humor sentences that would really catch your attention. Wayne is survived by his mother, Harlena and her fiancée, Dale; his son, Tyler (Shania) Johnson; Tyler’s mother, Rhonda; his brother, Derick (Katie) Johnson; nephew, Trenton Johnson; Wayne’s fiancée, Anna, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends who thought of him as family. In addition to his father, Wayne was preceded in death by an infant brother, Dustin and, his grandparents, Harley and Hazel Newsome Ruby, Dennis Johnson, Ethel Johnson Collins, and Junior Collins. Wayne was loved by many and will be missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Burial will be Universal Cemetery at the privacy of the family. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Wayne’s name to help cover expenses. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
