Wanda M. Brown, 77
Wanda M. Brown, 77, of Wheelersburg, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Born August 2, 1938, in Scioto County, Ohio, a daughter of the late John William and Pauline (Tatman) Atkins, she was a retired school teacher with the Eastern Local Schools with 30 years of service and attended Christ Community Church in Portsmouth. Wanda was an avid bowler and quilter. She loved visiting by the fire, family gatherings, bird watching, and her flowers. She loved her entire family immensely, she was a amazing mom and mentor and was a wonderful example for all women to follow. She in survived by her husband, Roger L. Brown whom she married on September 13, 1956; a son Roger Dale (Karen) Brown of Minford; three daughters, Nancy Stevens of Pt. Pleasant, WV, Paula (Barton) Gauthreaux of Gates, NC, Evanna (Kirk) Crabtree of Stockdale; nine grandchildren, Roger, Joshua, Charla, Miranda, Rachel, Justin, Natalie, Brittany, Simon; nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph Atkins, Mike Atkins, Dennis Aaron Atkins, and five sisters, Juanita Sue (Tommy) Lewis, DeeDee Ralston, Jane Thompson, Sandy Eichenlaub, and Mary Ellen Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Atkins, and two sisters, Phillis and Melissa.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to SOMC Hospice, 2201 25h Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662. My name is Robert Lang and my mother Nell Lang was a school teacher at Stockdale. I currently reside in Oklahoma, but keep in touch with my classmates. Wanda wasn’t in my grade, but I do remember her and am so sorry for your loss.
