Paul Richard “Dick” Eckhart
Paul Richard “Dick” Eckhart, 84, of Portsmouth, a former Minford and Sciotoville resident, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Hillview Retirement Center. Born June 14, 1931 in Scioto County, a son of the late Marvin and Gayle Hadaway Eckhart, he was retired from New Boston Coke Plant, he was co-owner/operator of Dick’s Pizza in Sciotoville for 15 years, a member of American Legion, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He is survived by one daughter Sandy (Robert) Odell of Wheelersburg; two sons, Brian (Angela) Eckhart of Aiken, SC and Bradley Eckhart of New York, NY; nine grandchildren, Konard (Tina) Modschiedler, Ryan Evans, Eric Evans, Amy (Jeff) Ratcliff, Alissa McManus, Alexx (Daniel) Kitchings, Niki Eckhart, Levi (Angela) Odell, and Lindsay Odell; twenty great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Constance “Connie” Alice Gervais Eckhart on October 31, 2014; two brothers, Eugene Eckhart and Carl Eckhart, and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Eckhart.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace with Jason Coriell officiating. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363.
