David A. Kallner, 86

David Allen Kallner, 86, of Minford, died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Hill View Health Care in Portsmouth. Born May 23, 1930 in Madison Township, Scioto County, a son of the late Allen C. and Mabel C. (Bennett) Kallner, he was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Lucasville Masonic Lodge #465, 32° Mason with the Valley of Columbus; Aladdin Shriners of Columbus; Farm Bureau and attended Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Patrick Day of Minford; four sisters, Amanda Montgomery of Minford, Ada Bradbury of Cape Coral, Florida, Sarah (Russell) Gilliland of Minford, Ruth White of Minford and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (Winters) Kallner, on October 21, 2014, whom he married on March 25, 1951, and two brothers, Forrest Kallner and Charles Kallner.

Funeral services will be conducted Noon Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Andy Day officiating. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sierra’s Haven, 80 Easter Dr., Portsmouth, OH 45662 in honor of his beloved barn cat Sweetie Pie. Online condolences may be sent to ww.edafh.com.
